Bio
Dr. Paula Xianhua Wang embodies resilience, determination, and a zest for life. Born and raised in China, she excelled as a global business strategist before moving to the United States in her 40s. Thereafter she started over her career, adapted to a new culture, and honed her English skills.
Throughout her expansive career, Paula holds senior roles in both the US and China across the private, media, and nonprofit sectors. Starting as a journalist, she swiftly became the Head of News Department at a national business newspaper within two years. In the early 2000s, she transitioned as a lead consultant at the British Economist Intelligence Unit’s Beijing Office. There, she formulated market strategies for major multinationals, including Roche and Chubb.
She notably aided in making soybeans the largest US export to China while advising the American Soybean Association. Prior to relocating to the US, Paula served as the Executive Director of Software Outsourcing at Yonyou Software, China’s premier management software firm.
In the US, Paula pivoted to the nonprofit sector, becoming Vice President for International Development at Wesleyan College, the world’s first women’s college. She secured significant donations from female self-made billionaires and networked with Forbes-listed global business leaders.
Educationally, Paula earned a Ph.D. degree from Renmin University of China and an Executive MBA from GSU Robinson College of Business. She has conducted pivotal research comparing US and Chinese business journalism and communication. Further highlighting her commitment to learning, Paula completed courses in American Laws and Taxations at renowned institutions like Yale and Harvard, particularly during the pandemic. She is also working towards an advanced financial advisory certificate and ready for a new chapter in her professional life.
Outside her professional realm, Paula is deeply involved in community service and has sat on numerous nonprofit boards. Overcoming various challenges, she found solace in drumming and now passionately plays genres like Soft Rock, Alternative Rock, and Unconventional R&B.
Despite English being her second language, Paula’s journey in public speaking is commendable. She’s been with Toastmasters International for over a year and currently serves as the VPPR for the Dunwoody Toastmasters club. She’s also a founding member of the Communication Coach Academy, initiated by renowned communication professor Alex Lyon, who boasts over half a million YouTube subscribers. Paula’s rich experiences, from personal challenges to professional
