Netania Walker, DTM District 44 Director 2017-2018
Happy New Year District 44 Toastmasters!
First, allow me to “thank you” for entrusting me to serve as your 2017-18 District Director. I am honored to have this opportunity and pledge to devote the extra time, care, and attention required of the role. In exchange for 12-months of hard work as District Director, I expect my leadership skills to improve exponentially.
So, what do you expect to improve this year? Networking, public speaking, listening, receiving feedback, patience, commitment, organization, time management? Whether a club member or officer, a district leader or volunteer, remember, you get out what you put in. Therefore, I beseech you to consider the areas of communication or leadership you want to improve, then be intentional about your growth over the next 12-months. Be committed and do whatever it takes to not give up until you’ve received what you set out to accomplish.
As your District 44 Director and an 18 year Toastmasters veteran, I promise you, if you commit to the following steps you and your club will be successful:
1. Use your education materials to practice, participate, and grow;
2. Help your club add new members and have fun-filled meetings; and
3. Renew your membership timely.
If you are a club officer, be sure to attend our two TLI trainings, submit required administration timely, and lead your members effectively. That’s it! That’s the way our program has worked for over 90 years and has been successful at developing incredible leaders and communicators.
I’m committed. Are you? Make a commitment now to IGNITE the leader within by putting in the extra work required to reach your goals and help your club become it’s very best. Better still, don’t wait until May or June next year to get in gear, do your part early to reap the benefits sooner and help your club earn Distinguished status by April 30, 2018. Together we can achieve much!
